Mercenaries do not deserve any protection of law or prisoners’ rights they all cam e to Libya to kill for money. An executive order should go out from Benghazi anyone with the rank of Captain or above can order the summary execution of captured mercenaries. simply by being in Libya they are guilty of war crimes against Libyans the penalty for which is, sames as treason and espionage during wartime is death.
Knowing capture means death will deter more Mercenaries from entering Libya and encourage those remaining with him to flee.
In any case I have a strong suspicion a great percentage of mercs do not make it to the POW camps .

Not appropriate, Libyan FFs must follow international conventions of war if they wish to receive the protection of NATO and international support of other nations. Please remember that all it takes is one video shot of this sort of event and international support could sour overnight.

The rebel movement has a distinct racist undertone. Black migrant workers and other civilians have been attacked and murdered in rebel held areas. There is video evidence on Youtube of how black people are treated by some of the rebels – beatings and lynchings.
And to the person recommending “merceneries” should be killed – what’s to stop any fighter accusing a PoW of being a merc, and killing them anyway? That kind of “advice” is as bad as Gaddafi. All PoWs should be treated humanely.

One of the major things that sets the freedom fighters apart from Gaddafi’s forces is that they treat their prisoners according to the standards of international law.

Lawrence James is not saying that we are treating them like the G-Forces do the rebel FF because we already know that the G-Forces are torturing them and shooting them with their hands tied behind their backs and the FF (rebels) are professional and treating the prisoners with respect and dignity. There is nothing wrong being done against the African mercenaries prisoners of war shown on this video. In fact the rebels are interrogating them.

Libyans regardless of colour have Libyan citizenship papers – that is the difference. We are discussing mercs here – regardless of colour. All Gaddafi proper troops has registration papers etc, the mercs usually are carrying their foreign passports.

The Mercenaries are terrorists, they are already guilty of war crimes by merely being in Libya, The precedent for executing war criminals has been established since the Nuremberg trials.
These mercenaries have been the main instrument by which Gaddafi has tortured , murdered an raped and executed several hundred thousand or more of Libyans. And they will be the instrument by which Gaddafi will continue to do these crimes.
These mercenaries act as Gaddafi’s SS and political enforcement being assigned to every unit to monitor discipline and execute dissenters and defectors and protect the command structure.

Leather pouches with paper inside usually carry “personal spells”, for a warrior it might be “invulnerability”. It is also important if they are worn openly or hidden by clothing. I like to think that the FF are better than G forces. I know war is a horrible thing, and it does awful things to people. I am sure Libya will be free. And when it comes time to build the new Libya, not all G supporters are going to be dead–they will be there, arguing and angry. It will take all the creativity and resourcefulness that I see in the FF now to mend the anger, and forge a united country. The best way to change people’s minds is to show them how true and fair justice works–and Libya has international support for the prosecution of war criminals. I don’t understand Arabic, I wish I did–but you can easily see that those mercenaries are frightened. Show them mercy and justice and you have the start of something better. Best of luck.

Absolute Baloney. Summary execution is used by every standing army that ever existed. Officers in combat not only have the right, they are expected to shoot anyone that does not obey a direct order or refuses to attack the enemy when ordered to do so.
Summary execution is not only legal and justified, it is JUST. The only thing “abhorrent” are the minds of cowards such as yourself who would allow not take the proper action to protect those who fight on the side of freedom and democracy. It is an open and shut case.Being in Libya as a foreigner with a gun in their hands automatically makes them guilty. And it is a military necessity that they be killed as soon as possible as it will prevent further recruitment of mercs by Gaddafi. In warfare,anything that contribute to the survival of your forces must be done – there is no choice about – to not do it means you will kill some of your own people. Not killing the mercenaries has already killed many many more Libyans because no deterrent has been created..

Let me give an example. Say an allied General in WW2 had 100 soldiers executed for desertion. He know many one or two are probably innocent. That is irrelevant. Deserters must be court-martialed and shot in the field or else he has no army.
