This is a photo of Muhammad Mukhtar Osman: The martyr who allegedly flew his fighter jet into Bab Al-Azziziyah on March 15. Bab Al-Azziziyah is the location of Gaddafi’s compound. This act of courage will forever be remembered. Osman is a hero to the revolution. God rest his soul.

I feel incredibly sad…sad that this man felt he needed to take those steps to both stop the killing of innocents, and to bring about freedom. I hope this martyr’s death brings strong and positive outcomes. R.I.P. Muhammad Mukhtar Osman. Thoughts to your family.
How come this attack hasn’t been reported on any major news outlet?

Agree with Pete,News Journalist have left Libya or are under strict restrictions. This is only a report until a Major news agency confirms. We will keep you updated on the situation.
I suggest it’s not been reported in major news as it’d be very hard for independent news sources near Gaddafi to verify. I can imagine that, if it has in fact happened, it’d have happened well out of the way of major news journalists, and/or be nothing but denials that’d be given to them, and/or threats have been made if it is reported.
I wish the UN security council would eventually decide to take action in favour of the libyan people. Sadly the news shifted their attention almost completely to Japan.
I hope that all libyans will fight against the mercenaries of Gaddafi with the bravery of Muhammad Mukhtar Osman. R.I.P.

That’s OK with the rest of us. We’ll continue to work hard to arrange that option 1 does not come become relevant. Option 2 will be left up to the people of Libya – I think I can guess their choice. :-)

I feel really bad for this poor guy and his family. must have taken a lot of courage to take the plane over to the opposition and then go by yourself to protect the city.

If it’s true, I sincerely hope Gaddafi feels the same agony of losing a member of his own family that so many Libyans have felt who have suffered loses in their own families. If Muammar is the last man left standing, it’s just what he deserves.
I don’t understand why he would crash his plane, when I’m sure he had missles that he could have used instead.
